City Still Firing Blanks

Following last night’s dull and scrappy goalless draw against Pompey, City now have the unenviable record of being the only team in the Premiership who have failed to score so far this season.

As well as being a very depressing statistic for fans, Pearce must also be very concerned. Despite bolstering up on forwards in recent months with the arrival of Samaras, Corradi and Dickov, City’s attack so far has looked out of sorts and never looking likely to generate the goals from all the hard work and battling that’s going on in midfield.

Forget the results for now, City’s performances have been workmanlike with players seeming to lack the confidence to take on and beat the last defender and shoot at goal. We’re fiddling around with the ball rather than trying to score – I can’t understand it.

We’re up against the Gooners on Saturday and perhaps Psycho needs to take a lead from Wenger, who looks likely to play Walcott. City have a couple of young guns in the reserves at a similar age to Walcott and perhaps it’s now time to give them their chance.

Daniel Sturridge and Kelvin Etuhu have been knocking on the first team door since last season and if Samaras, Corradi, Vassell and Dickov are struggling for form, give the youngsters a chance – they can’t do any worse

Let’s hope Psycho will soon give them a decent run and not the six minutes that BWP got every other game ( by the way he scored for Soton again last night! ).

Couple of quick other points:

1) Reyna ….. WHY ????

2) Thatcher ….. a disgrace last night

Finally, well done to the ‘Boro last night – you did us all a favour !
