City suffer major setback in Arsenal winger pursuit

|

Links between The reigning champions and Arsenal’s mercurial winger Bukayo Saka have taken a major blow according the outlet CaughtOffside via Fabrizio’s Romanos/@FabrizioRomano daily transfer brief.

According to Romano the priority for the current Premier League pacesetters is to extend the 21-year-old’s contract, and will sit down to discuss terms with representatives in the ‘coming weeks and months’. Interest and transfer value for the Hale End graduate will have surely have risen drastically during his World Cup run with England in which he scored 3 goals in 4 four appearances and notched an assist.

His wonderful linkup and interchanges with City’s prized youngster Phil Foden left many fans pondering and excited at the idea of Saka lighting up the Etihad alongside Foden on a regular basis, with a potential winger combination nailed down for the next 10 years.

If Saka were to make the switch to the Etihad, he wouldn’t of been the first high profile player to make the switch from North London to Manchester. Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Barcary Sagna and most infamously Emmanuel Adebayor all made the switch in a five-year period, with Adebayor famously running the length of the pitch after scoring against his former club in a enthralling 4-2 for City in the 09/10 season.

With a potential Riyad Mahrez exit looming, the idea of a Saka move makes perfect sense and with Guardiola seeming appreciating English talent recently with acquisitions such as Kyle Walker, Jack Grealish, John Stones and Kalvin Philips all coming during the Spaniards tenure, there is clearly interest from City.

It’s yet to be seen whether City will make a move for Saka, and contract talks seemingly commencing shortly the Cityzen’s will have to land a devastating blow very quickly if they want to snap up there man
