The parlous state of Liverpool FC’s financial revelations this week will have alerted many of European football’s elite club’s. Er, and Manchester City…

It’s clear now that entrusting an English Football club to United States based hedge fund management speak ne’er do wells is not ideal if you don’t want to see your club plunged into almost insurmountable titanic proportioned debt inside a couple of years of purchase.

Just ask any Glazered-eyed rag or Hicked, drawn and Gilleted red scouser.

And while we are at it, come back here in a year’s time and we’ll give you the Arabian effect perspective.

The rags have just gone through the £700 million debt barrier but that’s another story. For now.

At least they are settled at the swamp, but Liverpool’s dream of a move to a brand spanking new stadium deserving of the team (seriously) that Rafa Benitez and his staff have worked hard to build hang by a thread following the news that the club’s owners have until a 24th July deadline to refinance a £350 million lending facility.

The story is that the two chancers have already spent £313 million of that loan. It’s estimated that they’ll need more than £400 million more to complete the construction of a new stadium.

Call me a circling vulture, but Blues have had our fill of the fear of losing our best players each summer and the winds have suddenly turned in our favour for the first time many of us can recall.

It’s all about assets in the modern day ‘big four’ dominated Premier League and while Liverpool’s beleaguered owners begin a desperate search for a new buyer Mike Ashley style, a window of opportunity has opened.

Liverpool players like the already unsettled Xabi Alonso could very well find themselves becoming objectives of the East Manchester Revolution. Indeed, as Vital MC regular Stu suggested, why not go for Fernando Torres in favour of the much touted Barcelona hitman and rag nemesis Samuel Eto’o?

We’ll address the rag’s situation when they go up for sale in the autumn.

The world’s our Blue Oyster Cult…

…and remember, Don’t Fear The Sweeper System.
