Coming hot on the heels of the news that City are to sign Saints defender Matthew Mills, the official club website, www.mcfc.co.uk, have tonight announced that City have agreed a £6 million fee with Heerenveen to sign Greek striker Giorgious Samaras. Samaras will arrive in Manchester early next week to discuss terms and have a medical.

In a move that will hopefully quieten growing voices of dissent at Eastlands, City have brought in an instant replacement for Robbie Fowler.

I am quite happy to eat humble pie on this occassion and applaud the club for moving with such haste to ensure a replacement was brought in before the deadline. Well done City.
