City travel to Bristol

City were handed a tough away tie in the second round of the Carling Cup when they were drawn away to Bristol City.

The tie has been confirmed for Wednesday 29th August with a 19:45 kick off.

There is little history to speak of between the two clubs with the last meeting coming in the 1979/80 season in the old first division.

The teams have never previosly met in any cup competition.

Ashton Gate remains something of a hoodoo ground for the blues with City never having won a competitive fixture at the ground.

Bristol City will provide tough opposition having just gained promotion to the Championship after years in the wilderness.

Bristol have started their season with a 2-2 home draw against QPR and a 3-0 win away to Brentford in the Carling Cup.
