Vital MC takes a look at Aalborg’s form in all competitions this season. It’s clear the Danish League Champions must not be taken lightly by any means…

FACTS AND FIGURES

First up, Aalborg (Aab), bearing in mind their lengthy mid season winter break, have played 35 competitive matches in all competitions this season. City meanwhile have played 42.

Aab have bean beaten on only 8 occasions this season. Their last defeat came in Spain back in October almost 5 months ago when Villareal sealed their elimination from the Champions League.

6 of those defeats have come in the Danish Superligaen, the last of which was again in October, but those defeats are the reason behind them lying only 5th in the league table, 16 points behind City’s last UEFA Cup opponents FC Copenhagen who are the league leaders.

Aab have only played 4 games since they were last in Manchester on 12th December last year when they came away with a creditable 2-2 draw at The Swamp.

They went into what was almost a 2 month hibernation following that fixture and having put Deportivo to the sword will fancy their chances when their coach pulls up on Ashton New Road tomorrow night.

Their mid season break does not appear to have done them any harm and a team that has almost forgotten how to lose will be a tough nut to crack.

PLEASE CONTRIBUTE TO THE CARL RAMSBOTTOM APPEAL:

On 27 November 2008, Carl travelled over to Germany to watch his beloved side play Schalke in the UEFA Cup, however due to a tragic incident at a German train station, Carl suffered life threatening injuries.

Due to this horrendous incident, Carl ended up in a coma for three weeks. He is currently in a rehabilitation unit in Germany while his family remain by his bedside.

The family are hopeful that Carl might be in a position to be repatriated to a rehab unit within the United Kingdom, hopefully sometime in March.
