City Youth Stars Keep On Shining

The MCFC Academy juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down as City beat Chelsea to lift the FA Youth Cup at Eastlands tonight…

Many Blues will take pride in the fact that Sven-Goran Eriksson and Hans Backe joined most of City’s senior squad in a show of support for City’s young stars amid a superb crowd of just under 20,000. A real sign of MCFC togetherness in a season that has brought much needed stability to our club, whatever the recent form book or utterly unhelpful comments of Thaksin Shinawatra have suggested. Svennis took on a shambles and has worked hard with a small and in itself young squad, showing faith in the City Academy.

That faith, combined with the knowledge that as long as Sven is in charge, if you are good enough you stand a great chance of making the first team will surely continue to inspire the City Academy lads to higher hights. I cannot say the same for Chelsea’s team tonight who haven’t got a cat in hell’s chance of ever representing their club in the Premier League.

So even minus the quicksilver Daniel Sturridge, injured playing for the senior side at Sunderland last Saturday, City lifted the trophy 4-2 on aggregate and 3-1 on the night.

An absolute credit to all involved with the Manchester City Academy and the club’s admirable youth policy.
