City’s Christmas

Just rifling through my fixture list and making my travel arrangements has made me sit up and take notice of just how tough City’s christmas programme is this year. As we go into the fixtures comfortably sat in 7th place, I for one will be more than happy if we can retain that spot after the Spurs game.

Boxing day sees us visit a resurgent Wigan side where a win is imperative if we are to sit in the top half come January. Two days later we entertain the champions, Chelsea. Now I accept we beat them in the corresponding fixture last season and that they failed to score in two games against us but surely we have used up all our luck against them? If we get anything from this I’ll be surprised. Next up comes Boro on New Years Eve, I can certainly think of better places to be, Iraq perhaps?. The Problem with Boro though is we never beat them and I don’t see much better than a draw here. Lastly comes Spurs at home, thankfully put back to the 4th for television. Spurs is often a good game but they are currently riding high in the Premiership. Like Wigan however, it is a game we simply must win if we wish to challenge for a european spot.

So Santa, for christmas I would really like 12 points from 4 games. Unfortunately I may as well ask to win the Christmas Eve lottery superdraw so here’s my realistic wish (predictions) list.

Wigan (a) 2-0 win

Chelsea (h) 0-1 defeat

Middlesboro 1-1 draw

Tottenham 2-1 win
