We’re still hanging in there Blues after a wretched showing at Sunderland thanks to a moment of brilliance from Andy Johnson. Here’s the way the main men saw it…

Roberto Mancini:

‘This was two points lost but I was pleased with the way we played in the second half. I don’t know why we started so slowly because we have a very important prize which we are aiming for. We still have a game in hand and Tottenham have to come to play at our stadium as do Aston Villa so things are still in our own hands.

‘There is no change in that respect. We have ten games to play and if we want to reach the top four we have to win our home games. We still have a good chance.’

Mancio’s take on Adam Johnson:

‘Adam is a good player, but is a young player. I think that in the future, he will be a good player for the national team, but now I don’t know…I think the England national team has a good manager and he knows very well Adam Johnson and he will decide.’

Steve Bruce:

‘I think we’ve got to say it’s a fair result overall, but when you get so close, obviously it’s disappointing.

‘We are a threat with Bent and Jones up front and he has been playing some of the best football I have seen since Ive been here….I think it’s 10 points we have lost this season late on – it’s hard to take.’

Bruce’s take on Adam Johnson:

‘It’s a wonder goal. Sod’s Law it’s him who we’ve tried to sign for the past six months..’
