According to an update courtesy of Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are ‘ready‘ to sell Sky Blue transfer target Nelson Semedo this summer for just €40 million (£35.7 million) in order to quickly raise funds – and the player allegedly ‘prefers City‘.

Semedo, who has started 16 La Liga games for the Catalans this season, is currently touted with a move away from the Nou Camp as Barcelona prepare to raise funds for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Would Nelson Semedo challenge Kyle Walker for the right-back position?

Indeed, as per this report, the Spanish giants tried to incorporate Semedo in potential swap deals to land targets like Lautaro Martinez and Miralem Pjanic – but so far Quique Setién’s side have fallen short.

While Barca try to trade the player for a target of their own, it is believed that Semedo prefers a move to the Etihad Stadium – and City have apparently offered a straight swap with Joao Cancelo in order to land the 26-year-old.

However, the club are ‘not interested‘ and only want a cash deal – appearing keen to raise the alleged £37.7m for their transfer dealings.

Semedo’s sale will gift the Barca board some ‘breathing room‘, and judging by the defender’s apparent enthusiasm over a move to Manchester, it’s a deal that could well happen.

Meanwhile, £60 million signing Cancelo has been unable to oust Kyle Walker from the right-back slot, fuelling rumours that he may be set to depart Eastlands just one year after signing.

If the Portuguese international does opt for a move away so soon, his compatriot Semedo could be a viable replacement at a cheaper price.
