“Class is everything”, “Love this club” – Plenty of Man City fans react as news emerges

According to a report from the Telegraph, Pep Guardiola’s Sky Blues have opted not to use the government’s furlough scheme to pay the club’s non-playing staff – resulting in a wave of supporters applauding the development.

City, unlike a host of other Premier League clubs who have opted to use furlough in order to pay the wages of their staff, have ruled out any usage of the government’s job retention scheme – becoming the first top-flight team to pledge publicly that they will not go through with it.

Due to current events, we have had to suspend our love for watching the Sky Blues in action as the country deals with a global issue – but City’s reaction to football’s suspension should be a cause for acknowledgement.

Since the league announced they will postpone any future action until further notice, the club have offered the Etihad Stadium to the NHS for temporary use as well as donating £100k along with rivals Man United to help struggling food banks.

Is this a good move from City?

No

Now, with City also ruling out a move to put their non-playing staff on furlough, plenty of supporters have been loving the continued response to recent events – here’s how Sky Blues pleaded their love for the club down below.
