2009 Squad Overhaul Totals:

IN: 12
OUT: 16
Currently LOANED: 9

Current Senior Squad Total: 24:

Given, Taylor, Richards, Zabaleta, Lescott, Onuoha, Toure, Bridge, Garrido, Sylvinho, Kompany, De Jong, Johnson, Ireland, Barry, Wright-Phillips, Petrov, Weiss, Robinho, Tevez, Benjani, Bellamy, Adebayor, Santa Cruz.

The results are staggering. Sparky, reviewing the situation a couple of weeks ago said:

‘We’ve done excellent business in this window and made huge strides in a short space of time. It may take a few more windows before we can say we are one of the top teams in the Premier League, but I don’t think we will be spending on this scale again. The players we’ve brought in this summer will sustain us. I’m sure we will be adding in future windows, but not buying on the scale we have this summer.’

Earlier this year the City gaffer talked of developing a smaller high quality squad of around 25 players to work with and on the evidence we’ve seen so far, he looks to have achieved that aim.

The key to success will now be continued consistency and a satisfactory fusion of the squad as a whole both on and off the park.
