Manchester City owners ADUG have begun the heavy investment promised at the takeover and have started work on a brand new £6m office block in one the stadium car parks.

The Manchester City admin staff, who currently work inside the stadium, will be moved into the brand-new £6m two-storey offices by the end of this summer.

Former Nike supremo and Manchester City Executive Chairman Garry Cook stated: ‘When our owners arrived in September of last year, they made it clear that their plans for the club were both long-term and sustainable and that supporters and the local community would be integral to all that we do.

‘Our review into our facilities and our planning for the future of the stadium, led us to taking this step and Sheikh Mansour has fully backed us in this decision.

‘Investment in the football club is much more than simply improving the team on the pitch; it is also about supporting our fans and the team off it.

‘By relocating our staff into fit for purpose offices, not only do we give ourselves the opportunity to enhance the supporter experience inside the stadium but we can also give our staff at the ground a working environment they can be proud of.’

Chief Officer of Infrastructure Development, Jon Stemp, said: ‘City is about more than football, it’s about the fans and our community, and we want our stadium to reflect that.

‘Expectations have moved on since the stadium opened in 2003. The ultimate aim is to provide the world’s best supporter experience inside the ground. We need to decide what the supporters need and then make it happen.

‘The first step in that process was to release the space we will need to improve the City of Manchester Stadium for the community in partnership with Manchester City Council.’

It was noted that the contract has been awarded to City Build Manchester and the architects are Bradshaw, Gass & Hope of Bolton.
