Cook In Question

Reports are knocking around ‘The Street of Shame’ that City Chief Executive Officer Garry Cook’s position is under review by the club’s owners…

There was a collective groan across Planet Blue last week when Cook berkishly announced at a fans ‘Heart of The City’ get together in New York City that The Blues were going to be the biggest club in the world and it was a case of when City next beat united, not if. And cameras were rolling.

Considering what has gone before where Mr. C is concerned, the comments couldn’t have been more badly timed with united on the ropes at the half way stage of the League Cup semi-final. Rag midfielder Darren Fletcher then went on to confirm that Cook’s sentiments had served to form part of united’s pre match team talk before the second leg.

Dan Taylor at the Grauniad has today suggested that Cook’s role at the club is under scrutiny following a string of gaffs ranging from 14 team Premier League ideas, welcoming Uwe into the rag hall of fame, the Kakagate shambles, the shocking handling of the Mark Hughes sacking, the subsequent Mancini press conference and an admission that he should have never got involved with Thaksin Shinawatra.

None of it good publicity and if City’s owners are considering Cook’s position then in truth it won’t come as a surprise to the vast majority of City fans.
