Crouching Striker, Hidden Talent

Proving once and for all that size doesn’t really matter ( but it sure helps !), it looks like Blues are happy with the signing of Greek international striker Georgious Samaras, even though City previously had an opportunity to buy lanky forward Peter Crouch, whose family have strong City connections.

Our web-poll asked:

Should we have signed Crouch instead of Samaras ?

YES: He’s a few inches biggerr 36%
NO : Size isn’t everything 50%
Don’t know: It’s all Greek to me 14%

‘Rodney’ (Trotter) is proving his doubters wrong with his recent Liverpool and England performances and hopefully will knock in a hatfull in Germany.

Samaras however, by his own admission has had a disappointing start to his City career and has promised that City fans will see the best of him next season, and boy do we need it.

Hopefully Big Sam won’t do a Cisse and pick up a bad injury during the World Cup and the experience of playing in the world’s biggest sporting tournament should sharpen him up and make him a much better and tougher prospect for the next Premier League campaign.

I wonder what a Crouch / Samaras partnership would have been like? We’d need a couple of decent wingers who could cross a ball though….. Oh Shaunie, come back – all is forgiven.

COME ON ENGLAND !

Postscript:

Oooops…well spotted wymbox , I’m getting so carried away with my coverage of Mexico on the Vital Football site, that I completely forgot Greece didn’t make it. Anyway, if they had qualified, my article would be spot on 😉
