Manchester City forward Daniel Sturridge says he wants to concentrate on his football rather than worry about his contract negotiations.

The 19-year-old’s current deal with the club expires in the summer, and as yet he has not committed to a new contract.

Sturridge told Setanta Sports News…

‘I’m just trying to get my head down – I’ve just got back from injury – and I’m trying to nail down a first-team place at Manchester City,’

‘I`m not trying to worry about my contract or anything else except football, because all that kind of stuff can put you off your game.’

‘I don’t want other things on my mind when I’m playing football because it doesn’t bode well for you on the pitch.’

Daniel finished off by saying…

‘I just want to focus on my football, get my head down and try and score as many goals as I can before the end of the season.’

Mark Hughes rates the England Under-20 international and it is thought he is eager to offer him a contract he can’t refuse.
