New summer signing Kevin de Bruyne has said he’s pleased to have marked his Manchester City debut with three points and a win over Crystal Palace today.

Having been on the end of praise from manager Manuel Pellegrini following on from his earlier than expected appearance as Sergio Aguero’s substitute replacement when he was unable to carry on after taking a kick to the knee, de Bruyne told the Official Site that it was a good start, but obviously he still had some settling in to do and his understanding of his colleagues will come with greater training time.

‘It’s always nice to win the game, especially when you score so close to the end. I think the first half was very difficult but the second half was better; we put more pressure on them and we got a little bit of luck when the keeper let the ball go, but it`s a big win for us.’

de Bruyne went on to say that he doesn’t feel there is a lot of difference between the English and German game, so he’s hoping he can settle nicely but quickly now and really show the fans what he’s capable of – and many will be hoping similar to the ball to Jesus Navas in the match.

‘The difference is not that big between England and Germany – the teams play very good football and it is difficult to win playing away. At the end of the season, if you win the title, nobody will talk about individual games like this, but these games help you get to where you need to be. It’s still early in the season, but to get a win in this manner is pleasing. I`ve just arrived here so it`s a little bit difficult – I need to get to know the players but I`m happy with the way it went today.’

He went on to admit that whilst he was hoping to get on the pitch to make his bow, he expected it to come in the second half, not after 24 minutes, so it wasn’t exactly ideal and he admits it took 15 minutes or so to find his feet and rhythm, but he’s backing himself to be far better in future, once he settles in properly.
