The much anticipated loan move to Celtic of City youngster Jason Denayer has been completed today.

City’s EDS Player of the Year nominee will be spending the year with the Scottish champions which, with the benefit of regular first-team football and champions league football too, only continue to aide his development.

Patrick Vieira certainly thinks this is a great move with the champions league and/or Europa League football he will get with the Scottish outfit vitally important to the defender.

Vieira told the official website: ‘I really think Jason to Celtic is a good loan move. It’s a great chance for him to go and get some experience.

‘He’s going to a team who will have a chance to play in the Champions League or Europa League so it is a really positive move.’

19-year-old Denayer will spend the season with Celtic, with Greg Leigh’s loan to league 1 outfit Crewe Alexandra also confirmed.

Left back Leigh will be on loan with Crewe, always a good club to start your development with, until January 5th.

Vieira added: ‘Greg needed the loan because I think he needs to challenge himself a little bit more at this stage of his career, so going to Crewe and playing league football will be a really good experience for him.’

Albert Rusnak, Emyr Huws, Ellis Plummer, Billy O’Brien and Marcos Lopes have also left City in temporary moves this summer to gain some first-team experience on loan with various clubs in various countries.
