How astonishing that today’s papers are full of the kiss and make up arrangements emanating out of Old Trafford.

As the scribes and Sky tried hard to get a comment off the great Mancio, he maintained a silent vigil muttering only that the situation would be reviewed in the summer.
Ladies and Gentlemen it is clear that it was the newspapers who ‘sold’ Rooney to City and nobody else.
The fact is that nobody really goes hunting for a major signing in January. What good would he be to Real Madrid or Barcelona who would be unable to field him in the Champions League? The same could be said for Chelsea. True he wouldn’t have been able to play for City in the Europa Cup, but in some ways he might have helped us win the title.

I sense an unhappy truce here whereby in June off he pops for loads of loot hopefully from Fergie’s point of view with some sort of player exchange so that he can be assured of new faces around Stretford. I have also noted this season that Howard Webb hasn’t had a really tasty match. He might have had the Everton – Liverpool derby last week but his calendar has been full of Fulham v Wolves, Stoke v West Ham and the like. How much are we having on him being in charge of the match on November 10 where he will be looking to make up for what he perceives he missed in the World Cup Final, potentially leaving us a man short if Nigel steps outside of the circle and mistimes a tackle (or makes one he considers too robust). Food for thought I think.
