Manchester City midfielder and German international Dietmar Hamann owes more than £600,000 in gambling debts, according to the Times.

Spread-betting company, Sporting Index are suing the 35-year-old for monies owed, plus an additional £26,400 in interest. The debt is alleged to have began way back in 2006 when the Times claim he bet on cricket, darts and American football.

The ex Liverpool, Newcastle and Bayern Munich stars contract expired at Eastlands at the end of the last campaign and no new offer is thought to be on the table.
