Striker and new Bosnia-Herzegovina captain Edin Dzeko has this evening penned a new four year deal with Manchester City.

The 28 year old will now remain at the club until at least the summer of 2018 and since joining us back in January 2011 from Wolfsburg he has gone on to play in 155 games for us, bringing a return of 66 goals including some key strikes for us in our recent successes and in his time with us so far he has picked up the FA Cup, the League Cup and two Premier League titles.

Not a bad return by anybodies standards.

Speaking to the Official Site as the new deal was announced, he said.

‘I’m really happy here at City, it’s a second home to me, so it was an easy decision to stay for the long term. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to stay for a long time, I can’t see any place better than here. I’m settled perfectly to life here, I know my teammates, the club, the team, very well and I feel like I can improve even more.’

Dzeko goes on to say that over the last three and a half years he knows we’ve have made history at the club and like others have commented when penning their new deals, he still feels this is only the beginning of our journey and he wants to remain a part of that.

‘There are still so many objectives and goals that I want to reach from my career and I believe that I’m in the perfect place to achieve them all.’
