Vital Manchester City is privileged to have secured an exclusive Q&A session with Manchester City’s Europa League opponents FC Timisoara team manager, Daniel Stanciu.

Vital Man City would like to thank Politehnica Timisoara Football Club (as they prefer to be known), and of course Daniel Stanciu himself.

MCFC and approximately 500 supporters have already arrived in Romania ahead of tomorrow’s first leg match at the 32,000 capacity Dan Paltinisanu Stadium.

Q&A

VMC – FC Timisoara is relatively unknown in England. Can you tell our readers a little about your club?

DS – It’s one of the clubs with a rich history in Romanian League. Unfortunately, it had few successes on international level. That’s why we are not so famous in England. But for sure, there are a lot of fans of Celtic Glasgow which have sad memories about Timişoara! Celtic was eliminated here in 1980.

VMC – Are football fans in Romania able to watch live Premier League games and if you do, which English clubs do you prefer to watch?

DS – Yes, Premier League, along with La Liga and Serie A are popular here in Romania. I like to watch Chelsea, because Dan Petrescu played there, Liverpool, Manchester United. And, few years ago, I liked Leeds United. Also I want to mention that recently I’ve met people from MCFC. They are special persons which spoke very nice and proudly about you, who support MCFC.

VMC – The Dan Paltinisanu Stadium has a capacity of just over 32,000. How many supporters are expected on Thursday night?

DS – We are convinced that will be a full stadium, almost 30.000 fans. It will be a gorgeous night in Timişoara, with a close result to Dinamo Bucharest-Everton 5-1, few years ago in UEFA Cup.

VMC – Is the FC Timisoara v Manchester City match being shown live on Romanian TV?

DS – In Romania, yes. Probably MCFC, in spite of huge financial investments, it’s not so popular in UK.

VMC – Which FC Timisoara player is expected to score the first goal against Man City?

DS – Axente.

VMC – How many fans are expected to make the journey to the City of Manchester Stadium next week?

DS – Around 300 fans.

VMC – What do you think the score will be on Thursday?

DS – 2-0 for Timişoara.

VMC – Finally, which team will make the Europa League proper, FC Timisoara or MCFC?

DS – If MCFC will qualify, they will have the first chance of conquering the trophy. Unfortunately, Timişoara will knock-them out, we want to qualify for UEFA Europa League group stages.
