Manchester City are expected to sign a striker this summer and Erling Haaland is top of their wishlist, but Héctor Andreu of Fichajes says the Premier League leaders have alternatives if their pursuit of the 21-year-old is unsuccessful.
Paulo Dybala is one of them, but City have stiff competition to procure his signature as he could be a free agent in the coming months – Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are named as suitors in the piece.
Sergio Aguero was released by Manchester City over the summer, ending a 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium that saw him score 260 goals with 73 assists from 390 games. The 33-year-old scored 16 Premier League goals or more in eight of those ten seasons, so he’s a hard player to replace.
Dybala boasts 112 goals and 48 assists in 281 games for Juventus, so he’s not a bad replacement. The 28-year-old ‘jewel’, who hit double figures for Serie A goals in four of his first five seasons in at Juve, is regarded as a talented ‘false 9’ with ‘great mobility’ by Andreu and might be a bargain buy this summer.
Dybala’s contract is up at the end of June but Juve are trying to tie him down for the long-term. The Argentine is happy in Turin too, so he might be a hard player to lure away.
