Manchester City drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Sunday evening and Joao Cancelo was named Man of the Match for his performance. The £32.4m-rated defender played at left-back against the Reds and was lauded by supporters on social media for an outstanding showing.
Cancelo made a number of important challenges to keep the opposition at bay and played his part in limiting Liverpool’s attack to just two shots on target. He was also a threat going forward and made numerous chances for his teammates.

Against Liverpool, the 26-year-old played for 90 minutes, had 83 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 80% of his 55 passes, created two chances, played five long balls with 40% accuracy, made four tackles, blocked one shot, made two interceptions, gave away three fouls and made three clearances.
Cancelo has made seven appearances in all competitions this season, scoring one goal with one assist. He’s featured at left-back for a number of weeks and could keep his place when Benjamin Mendy returns. Pep Guardiola prefers the Portuguese international as cover over Oleksandr Zinchenko too.
Next up for City is a trip to face Tottenham Hotspur on November 21.
