‘Yeeeeeeees’ – Some fans react to Man City’s ‘very interesting’ Champions League draw

Manchester City confirmed on Friday morning that they’ve been drawn with Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, meaning they will come up against former players Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland.

Fans are excited to see Haaland coming up against the club he supported as a child and the club he’s been so heavily linked with in recent months, so they didn’t hide their delight with the draw on social media.

Erling is the son of Alf-Inge Haaland who made more than 40 appearances for Man City between 2000 and 2003. The pair were both big fans of the club and Erling was revealed to be in a supporters group when he was playing in Norway, so there are strong ties.

And if the 20-year-old ends up leaving Dortmund, it’s City who lead the race for his signature. Sergio Aguero is out of contract in the coming months and Haaland would be a fantastic replacement given his 96 career goals in 142 games (Transfermarkt), but he’ll be auditioning for now.

The first and second legs will take place in April. If the Sky Blues can see past Dortmund, they’ll face either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain in the semis and the victor will face one of Chelsea/FC Porto/Liverpool/Real Madrid in the final.
