A whopping 82% of 500 football fans surveyed want Manchester City’s number one goalkeeper Joe Hart in between the sticks for Team UK during the London 2012 Olympics.

A survey to find the Great Britain football team of choice for supporters has also revealed fans don’t want David Beckham in their starting line-up either.

In a side boasting the like of Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Jack Wilshere, Beckham is only considered good enough for the subs bench.

The survey, carried out by the Faces of Britain website, www.facesofbritain.co.uk, was completed by over 500 supporters across the country. Harry Redknapp is favourite to take charge of the team, which comprises nine England players and two Wales players.

Olympic rules state only three players over 23 can play at one time, with Rooney, Ferdinand and England goalkeeper Joe Hart selected as the overage players.

Welsh wizard Gareth Bale, recently-crowned PFA player of the year, was by far the most popular choice, with 96% of fans selecting him.
