According to news courtesy of La Gazzetta dello Sport via Milan Live, Man City have reignited their interest in AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer – with manager Pep Guardola apparently falling ‘in love‘ with the player.

Bennacer, who has started 25 Serie A games under Stefano Pioli this season, making a noteworthy 2.3 tackles per game in the middle of the park according to WhoScored, is now re-attracting Guardiola’s interest as we consider possible midfield additions.

Usual defensive midfield colossus Fernandinho has been absent from his typical role for most of the season, having to deputise at centre back, leaving a lack of cover in front of the back four.

Record singing Rodrigo has arguably failed to fill the Brazilian’s boots, with Bennacer now being linked to an Etihad move.

As a result, many Sky Blues have begged our manager by proxy to make the move happen – even if it means having to pay a €50 million (£45.06 million) release clause.
