City, obviously, have got to ‘go for it’ against Barcelona on Tuesday night if we’re going to overturn our two-one first leg deficit to keep our Champions League campaign alive.

We’ve come back from the brink already in the Champions League this season but a deficit going to the Nou Camp is a little difference with Glenn Hoddle telling Sky Sports on Sunday that he’s fearful that we’ll ‘get a hammering!’

Hoddle believes that going two up top is something that Manuel Pellegrini will do but that isn’t the way to go.

‘They are in an awkward position. They will probably go with two up front again and if they do that it will cause all sorts of problems.

‘They’ve got to get a result and they are not learning from their lessons. If he goes with two up front, I fear for them.’

Two up front or not I suspect that some ‘fear for us’ regardless but it’s better that we go down fighting than roll over and meekly bow out of the Champions League having worked so hard to get into the last 16 when it seemed we were dead and buried!

Barcelona should have put us out of sight in the first leg, can we make them pay for failing to do so? We’ll definitely need some luck and a fair amount of patience but if we can keep the attacking threat that Barcelona have at bay then they’ve got a defence that our attacking player should able to expose.

I think we’ve got to come out of the traps early, certainly positively, but if we go in like a bull in a china shop then Hoddle’s worst fears could be materialised – we’ll find out soon enough!
