Manchester City have today announced the signing of Fernando.
The 26 year old joins us from Porto and has been handed the No 6 shirt for 2014-15. Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Fernando began life at Vila Nova in Brazil before making the move to Porto in 2007.
In his time with them he has won four Primeira Liga titles, two Portuguese Cups and a Europa League medal.
Joining up with his new colleagues for the first time in a fortnight, he told the Official Site that he was pleased that the deal had finally been done.
‘I’m so happy to finally be joining Manchester City. I know there was talk of me possibly signing last January so I am delighted that the deal has now been done and that I’m a City player. I’m looking forward to meeting my team mates and helping City to defend the title. It’s a very exciting time to be part of this football club and I cannot wait.’
