Manchester City executive chairman Garry Cook has warned success will not come overnight, nevertheless that missing buzz has returned to the Blue side of the City.

Boss Mark Hughes will meet with new owner Sheikh Mansour and his representatives in Abu Dhabi in a couple of weeks time to discuss January transfer targets. If the figure being banded around is anywhere close to the correct figure, Sparky could end up with around £100million in his player war chest.

Garry Cook told the Manchester Evening News…

‘The future on the field is bright. Mark talks about moving this club forward. I can’t think of anybody better to take us there.’

‘He knows what the job involves. If we give Mark the resources, he will deliver for us but he is working with a squad he largely inherited.’

‘We got the manager we wanted, along with the right coaching staff. And we knew we had great admin staff.’

‘But we knew we needed resources on the field as well. And that was all about bringing in the right partner. We have a benefactor who understands the needs of all those parties.’

‘If you bring all these elements together – and it has happened as much by luck as by design – it creates a huge buzz.’

‘And there’s a buzz here now that we haven’t seen for years.’

City has to wait until Monday 20 October for their next Premier League fixture, with struggling and in turmoil Newcastle United being their opponents.
