Former Blackburn Rovers chairman, John Williams has joined the football operations department at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Williams, who left Rovers in February 2011 after a 14-year spell at Ewood Park will work closely with Brian Marwood and will start work on July 1.

Speaking of the news, Chief Executive Garry Cook said…

“John Williams is a hugely respected figure in the football world and I admire him greatly.”

“Unsurprisingly, a number of organisations were keen to work with him and I was therefore delighted when he accepted my offer to join us.”

Mr Williams is expected to provide support in a number of areas within the club which include assisting with the high volume of senior and youth contracts, whether for renewal or disposal and also working closely with our football legal and secretarial functions.
