If any of us across Planet Blue thought there weren’t any more football hacks or personalities left to go after City over ‘Kakagate,’ then we can think again…
In an astonishing attack, the UEFA President who has presided over the systematic greed, astronomical debt, rule breaking and competition domination of Europe’s biggest football clubs has foolishly decided to declare his own belief in the AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi’s self serving spin that announced City fee and salary offers for Kaka that didn’t reach the negotiating table.
The UEFA President’s decision to single City out as the root of all footballing evil beggars belief:
‘How can a guy cost ?150 million (£131m)? For me it’s ridiculous ? from a football, social and financial point of view.
‘If you want to buy a plane for ?150m or a boat, you can do. But for a man? For me it’s bad. It’s not possible. But it’s why we have to do something.
‘I’m finding a system where you can spend what you have. If one Sheikh brings ?150m for Kaka then you have to put his salary on top of the transfer fee.
‘If the club go over their income with the player’s salary plus fee, they can be banned from our competitions because they don’t respect their budget. It’s about a licensing system where clubs spend within their income.
‘Clubs who are banned will be replaced by those further down the table of that country who meet the criteria. It’s not to disturb football but to protect it. Many owners have asked me to find a system. I have to do that as president of UEFA.’
Protect who, Mr. Platini? The monopoly of European football’s elite clubs that you’ve done little more than bluster about for years?
Platini then turned to patronising the club who won last season’s FA Youth Cup with a raft of kids who had been at the club since they were 9 years old against a Chelsea youth side bought in from all over the globe…
‘City can have a young player from Manchester who comes to their training centre and becomes Kaka. They don’t have to buy someone for ?150m because they have their academy.’
City started last weekend’s fixture at Stoke City with FOUR MCFC Academy players in the XI that took the field, with a fifth on the bench.
Only four of the starting XI at Stoke originated from outside Britain and Ireland.
This happens week in, week out at Manchester City and it’s a glaring fact that the hacks who feed the likes of Michel Platini singularly fail to recognise, even moreso since His Highness Sheikh Mansour bought the club.
Sheikh Mansour, City Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarrak, Executive Chairman Garry Cook and Manager Mark Hughes have all publicly expressed the intention to blend international stars with graduates from City’s brilliant academy and the proof is in the continuing team selection.
Mr. Platini’s public criticism of Manchester City is at best, ill informed and at worst, absolutely ignorant.
