If still committed to playing for his side, Nicolas Anelka is never more dangerous then when he and his advisors are looking for a new club.
Bolton come to Fortress Eastlands on something of a high after obtaining their third win of the campaign against a woeful Wigan side. Good grief, City really should have put Wigan to the sword.
That said, Bolton have yet to win away all season. Once again, our young squad is going to have to be prepared to slug it out with a team who regardless of their lowly position in the league can hurt you from all angles.
The likes of Anelka, Diouf, Nolan and the ever combative Davies will have to be well shackled. What concerns me post our disappointing results at Wigan and Spurs is whether or not we are too lightweight to sustainedly contain teams that on paper, and on evidence so far this season, we should be beating.
I still maintain that once our team ‘clicks’ again, then we will see wins gained with more comfort, but I suggest there is still a need to concentrate better, wise up and toughen up. Of course there is nothing you can do about refereeing decisions such as the one that allowed Chimbonda’s hand goal at desperate Spurs last week, but this season’s destiny is very much in our own hands.
We’re still in the top six, we can give Spurs some payback for that goal in the League Cup and four of our next five games are on home soil. What an opportunity that we could only have dreamed of last May!
Time to freshen things up Svennis. Bianchi must now be given a sustained run in the side. I suggest that Garrido needs time out and Ball should also get a run of games. Neither will I be alone in wanting Geovanni to play a greater role in the side.
