Get Zlatan

Rumours are swirling around the French capital that barnstorming striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be up the rue from Paris Saint-Germain next month. Are City in for him..?

If so, this is music to my ears if Zlatan is on the market and available in the summer to move to Manchester.

It was recently alleged that City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain had held talks with the giant Swede’s agent, self styled ‘super agent’ Mino Raiola who graced no less than FIVE pages talking about himself in the legendary France Football magazine last week.

FF confirmed in that article, with a photograph to prove it, that Begiristain did indeed meet Raiola in London on the 11th April. Raiola made it clear that his professional relationship with City’s ‘Directeur Sportif’ has transformed along the years into a relationship of trust.

Do we go all out to purchase a 31 year old forward who has thumped in 27 and 42 league goals for PSG and AC Milan in recent seasons or do we stop and think first. Would he be a stop gap or would he be here to stay? He does have a tendency to move about but apparently his family don’t mind the hassle having become used to his moving on.

City need to make a couple of big signings if we want to win our title back (a title which by the way we have only loaned out to our Stretford neighbours for a season). We are likely to have at least two striker spots to fill. One already vacated by Mr. Raiola’s Mario Balotelli and the other presumably is going to be left by Edin Dzeko should he depart at the end of the season.

If we want to win and win big Zlatan is the man; oozing with class, experience and motivation, he is a superb goal creator and poacher.
He has spent one season at PSG which will no doubt end in title glory. This would be his ninth title win in 10 seasons. Imagine him playing alongside Aguero, Silva and Tevez. What an unstoppable force that could be.

There are doubters out there who suggest Zlatan struggles against English teams. Joe Hart might counter that. If he does sign for City it would be interesting to see how he would set out to prove them wrong once and for all by blasting through the Premier League one team at a time. We could do much worse than sign this proven winner.
