Go For It City

‘Slim, and none’ – so said Mohammed Ali when asked about Joe Frazier’s chances ahead if their match-up at Madison Square garden in 1971.

‘Slim’ describes City’s chances at best ahead of the visit of Real Madrid, but you never know and where there’s hope, and all that. It would be the ‘typical City’ of old to beat the Galacticos but still go out, and given the way they seemed to hit top gear against Villa on Saturday that could well happen.

The least they can do is go for it with the shackles off, and looking back to last season I can see ‘the likes of’ (aggggh!!! – Ed) Yaya Toure, David Silva and Sergio Aguero ‘stepping up to the plate’ on the big stage.

Whether it is enough or not is out of their hands, which would make performances earlier in the season all the more frustrating. Don’t forget that our friends from across town could take it easy in Turkey because they did enough early on – never mind, why not ride the rollercoaster?

I just hope the fans give it some on Wednesday. All to play for in the Champions League against Real Madrid at home – that’s progress – think Macclesfield, York, a balloon at Bramall Lane…
