That’s handy. The English Football Association’s determination to get the coffers topped up with London based FA Cup semi-finals could realise a motorway nightmare…

Their words, not ours. On the eve of the ludicrous spectacle of City and United fans (well, some of them) plus Bolton and Stoke fans travelling to London at the same time to play each other, the FA have announced that the M1 will be closed between junctions one and four tomorrow because of a warehouse fire incident.

The FA have gone so far as to have the gall to advise the fans to ‘seek alternative routes or modes of transport.’

Maybe they have got to get that stadium paid for after all and that’s the reason for three Wembley games continuing to end the competition. But there is a very strong risk now that the cost of policing for one factor is going to go into the stratosphere as the supporters travel required shifts into chaos.
