Half A Dozen Football Pundits Predict Spurs vs. Manchester City

Last seasons corresponding fixture saw Pep Guardiola’s side come away from Wembley Stadium with maximum points after Gabriel Jesus, Ilkay Gundogan and Raheem Sterling helped Manchester City beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-1.

Could we see a similar scoreline this time around?

Some of the following football pundits seem to think so.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Manchester City

Sky Sports regular Soccer Saturday panel member Paul Merson predicts City will win 3-1.

“This should be a cracker! Tottenham are getting results without playing well – I thought they rode their luck against West Ham. There’s a few in that squad who aren’t playing to their full ability at the moment. However, look where they are in the league – they will only get better.

“I think the pitch could become an issue. Modern players are not used to playing on a dodgy pitch? We were more accustom to it back in the day – I once played at the Baseball Ground, and there was not one blade of grass on the pitch.

“It just may suit Manchester City that little better as they have a bit more pace in their team and will not be fully reliant on pass, pass, pass.”

BetVictor’s Brand Ambassador Michael Owen tips an away win.

“City are unbeaten in their last 15 PL games and have conceded just six times in that period, and I feel they can take the points at Wembley on Monday evening.

“Since Mauricio Pochettino took over as Spurs boss, only Arsenal have picked up fewer points in games involving the “big six” than the Lilywhites, and I think the hosts will come up just short against the champions in what promises to be a hugely entertaining and informative contest.”

ESPN’s 65-year-old football correspondent Paul Mariner adds his thoughts while predicting this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.

BBC so-called football expert Mark Lawrenson says MCFC will come away from the capital 2-0 winners.

“Manchester City beat Tottenham easily at Wembley at the end of last season, and with its wide open spaces, I think it is a stadium that suits them.

“I cannot see any reason why City won’t do something similar this time – especially now Kevin de Bruyne is back from injury.

“City boss Pep Guardiola said his side’s performance in their midweek win over Shakhtar Donetsk was the best he had seen since he has been at the club, so it would appear they are in decent form too.”

And finally…

Predicted stating XI

For what it’s worth I am going to predict a 4-2 win in favour of MCFC.
