‘He has to adjust’ – Kevin De Bruyne has theory on City teammate’s inconsistency

|

After Manchester City beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 on Saturday and Jack Grealish finally got on the scoresheet, Kevin De Bruyne had his say on Grealish’s form at City. He believes his problems are down to different standards at Aston Villa.

The 27-year-old scored just three goals with three assists from 26 Premier League games in his debut season at City and has just one goal with zero assists from six games this campaign, but De Bruyne blames Villa for his struggles as he believes they’re more accustomed to losing than the Sky Blues.

He said via talkSPORT: “With all due respect, he was at Villa before and if you lose a game sometimes it is not the end of the world. But if we lose a game it is different.

“We have to perform every week and win games. That is different and what he has had to adjust to. As long as we win the games and he is doing a good job for us, that is all that matters.”

Grealish scored eight goals with six assists from 36 Premier League games in 2019/20 and scored six goals with 12 assists from 26 Premier League games in 2020/21, so he had no problem in the final third at Villa.

The 27-year-old was among the best playmakers in the top-flight, making more chances and successful dribbles than most players, so De Bruyne’s claim about Villa doesn’t ring true. Grealish shone when he was on the losing team, so it doesn’t make sense that he’s underperforming in a winning side.

It was his consistency for Villa that led to City making a move in the first place.

If Crippy bothered to look beyond his anti City prejudice he would see that Kevin’s words actually are not wrong at all. Grealish WAS a great performer in a losing side, and City certainly are a winning side. Crippy is not worth the broadband, and the sooner this site replaces him the better

So KdB didn’t say that at all.
    Awful “Journalism”.

Crippy, you’ve elected to join the media conspiracy against Grealish. Let the young man be. The price tag that was put in him was Aston Villa exploiting City. That’s not enough reason for you to want to destroy his career. Grealish is doing just fine and I’m a City fan
