‘He’s a monster’ – Patrice Evra gives opinion on ‘killer’ Man City player

Patrice Evra had his say on Erling Haaland’s fantastic start to life at Manchester City, calling the 22-year-old a “monster” and “killer” in an interview with Betfair.

Haaland joined City from Borussia Dortmund in June and has set the Premier League alight just months into his debut campaign, scoring 11 goals with one assist from seven league games, so he could break the Premier League record for goals in a season as things stand.

Evra had this to say about the prolific centre-forward via Manchester Evening News: “He is a monster. He is using his physique, he’s a killer in front of goal, he does the right movements, he’s sharp for someone tall and strong. He’s like a cat.”

The most goals scored in one Premier League season is 34 – Andy Cole (Newcastle) in 1993/94, Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers) in 1994/95. But since the division was reduced to 20 teams, Mohamed Salah holds the record with 32 goals scored.

Haaland is averaging 1.6 goals per game at City, so he would end the campaign with 61 goals if he maintained his scoring ratio and played in every league game. It’s expected that the 22-year-old will slow down eventually, but he netted 62 goals in 67 Bundesliga games before joining City, so he could be the one to break the record.
