‘He’s ready to go’ – Trevor Sinclair says 25 y/o Man City man is ‘excited’ to leave

It’s hard to see Gabriel Jesus staying at Manchester City after missing so many games over the course of the campaign and having added competition for playing time following the arrivals of Julian Alvarez and Erling Haaland, so Trevor Sinclair believes he’s ‘excited’ to leave and has been ‘ready to go’ for some time.

He said on talkSPORT: “I think he’s ready to go. He looks like he’s bulked up and had that spring in his step (at the tail-end of the season). He’s got the confidence, and maybe he knew what was coming this summer with the transfer situation. Maybe he’s starting to get excited and prepared (to join a new side).”

Jesus joined City from Palmeiras in 2017 and went on to make 236 appearances in all competitions, scoring 95 goals with 46 assists. The 25-year-old even made 41 appearances this season, scoring 13 goals with 12 assists, but he didn’t start as many games as he will have hoped.

Jesus started only 21/38 Premier League outings and 3/12 Champions League clashes, so he spent a lot of time on the bench. And when he did get the nod from Pep Guardiola, the Brazilian international was playing out wide rather than through the middle.

So with Haaland and Alvarez adding more competition for playing time and Jesus having just one year left on his contract, it might suit all parties if he left. City can make money back from his sale and Jesus can get first-team football elsewhere.
