Highly-rated player will return to Man City after failed loan spell

|

Kayky joined Paços Ferreira on a season-long loan over the summer but has been short of form and playing time at the Capital do Móvel Municipal Stadium, so he might be cutting his stay short in Portugal.

According to O Jogo (h/t Sport Witness), the 19-year-old may be returning to Manchester early after a failed temporary stint with the Pacenses. Kayky has fallen down the pecking order and no longer plays at all under Pepa, so he’s left with little choice but to leave and try another club in January.

It’s highly unlikely he would get into Pep Guardiola’s side for the second half of the season, so Kayky will have to embark upon his second loan move of the campaign.

The Brazilian youth international made nine appearances in all competitions for Paços Ferreira, amassing 307 minutes of playing time. He failed to score or make an assist in three months. Kayky was dropped from the starting eleven in mid-September and hasn’t played any part of their last two league games.

Kayky joined City from Fluminense in 2021 and has gone on to score six goals with four assists from 14 games for the U21s while featuring twice for the first-team. With Riyad Mahrez, Jack Grealish, Cole Palmer, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden for competition, his best bet is to develop at an easier level and push for a spot in the squad next season.
