On this occasion I intend to pick and choose certain recent Manchester City v Newcastle United results and in doing so highlight why I think we’ll tear the barcodes a new *** **** later this evening.

The match kicks off at 17:30 GMT – for those of us who reside within the UK and don’t have Etihad tickets then we’ll have to tune into BT Sport. Overseas viewers are also well catered for as the following widget explains (some handheld devices may not be able to cope with the coding. In other words the image will not be visible).

I don’t intend to crossover into a matchday preview as our Vital Man City one is already online. Click / tap here for details.

In addition our forum Beat the Clock (guess the attendance, score etc) is also up and running. It is fun and is open to all Vital Network members.

Our previous game against Newcastle was, only a few weeks ago up in Geordie land and if you remember, their tactics were enough to make anyone cry. Defend, defend and defend…arghhhh. City managed to break the buggers down and won 1-0. All I can say is thank goodness for Raheem Sterling. The game infuriated me that much (Newcastle being so negative) I considered suicide (only kidding!).

To the here and now…

Today’s match odds, courtesy of SkyBet suggest MCFC should win at a canter.

City win – 1/7
Draw – 15/2
NUFC win – 20/1

Recent Premier League City victories (v Newcastle) when we’ve scored four or more.

3 October 2015 – 6-1 (Etihad)
21 February 2015 – 5-0 (Etihad)
19 August 2013 – 4-0 (Etihad)
30 March 2013 – 4-0 (Etihad)

Between the dull 1-0 win earlier this season and the result five years ago the stats read:

Played: 8
City wins – 7
Draw – 1
City goals scored: 24
Newcastle goals scored: 2

As I said at the beginning, I’ve picked some recent stats in an effort to make my point. And my point is this.

The City players and in particular Pep must be smarting from the last game against Liverpool (3-4), our first league defeat of the season, DOH! So, today’s perfect recipe for Guardiola and his merry men has come just at the right time. In other words I am predicting the perfect soufflé and City to score six.

Thoughts?
