Honest Oliver’s Top Weekend Tips

Honest Oliver (oliverblue) has been busy trawling around the web looking for and finding the best bets – weekend 20th / 21st Sept

Relatively bad weekend last time around folks, with only one of my main three bets coming in! On the positive side, Robinho was tipped for first goal at 12s, and my long shot of Hull winning 2-1 at the Barcodes (22-1) more than made up for it.

So the scores are now Honest Oliver five Bookies four, so we are still up. Lot of games are on Sunday this weekend, due to the UEFA Cup matches on Thursday, but let’s hope our beloved Blues have recovered and are ready for the visit of Portsmouth.

Here we go! (All odds courtesy of our friends at www.odds checker.com).

West Ham v Newcastle

The battle of the two most perilous clubs in the Premier League! Neither team can buy a point at the minute, but something will have to give on Saturday. I’m anticipating a nervous match, but ultimately, I think home advantage will tell in the end.

Tip: Get on West Ham to win with Paddy Power @ 11/10. Newcastle desperately need a Sheikh up!

West Brom v Villa

The Baggies bagged their first three points last weekend against the ‘ammers, so will be well up for this Midlands derby. Villa, with the exception of the Stoke debacle, has been strong starters, and I can see this continuing on Sunday. You can get 7/5 on a Villa away win, but the total goals market looks more appealing – there will be a bag (gie) full!

Tip: Get on there being more than three goals in the game at 11/4 with Betfair.

Chelsea v Man Yoo

The second biggest game on Sunday sees the self-proclaimed Big Two take each other on at The Bridge. Chelsea have started the season on fire, whilst our poor neighbours have been a damp squib! Spluttering performances, blowing £30m on a 28-year-old chain-smoker, and the sponsors on the verge of going bump – all is not well at the Swamp!

Chelski won’t have things all their own way, but I can still foresee them overcoming The Rags! If they do lose, Man Yoo may profit from having Butlins as their new sponsor – their season will finish in September too!

Tip: Chelsea to win at 5/4 with most bookies!

Longshot of the Weekend: Big spending and over-hyped Spurs play host to Wigan, again on Sunday. £67m of investment apparently sees you at the foot of the table, so it’s no surprise their fans have scurried back into their closets for the time being.

Can Wigan continue their misery? Me thinks they can! They are a juicy 9/2 for an away win, and a whopping 25-1 with BlueSq for a 2-1 scoreline.

City Watch (v. Pompey)

City are evens for the win, against a Pompey side harbouring the same European ambitions of our own team. This will be the acid test as to how far we have travelled under Hughesy.

Our friend Johnny Baguette plumped for a 3-0 win in his excellent weekly write-up, and this goes for 18-1 at best price. The more cautious amongst us may opt for 2-1 at 8s. More interestingly, Robinho’s odds for first goal have almost been halved after last week’s exploits, and are only 13/2 now.

Good luck to all you punters out there this weekend, and remember, if Honest Oliver hasn’t tipped it, it isn’t worth backing!
