I’m back after a break for an international weekend, which is always as popular amongst most football fans as Mike Ashley is on Tyneside! Having said that, well done to England on Wednesday night – you did us proud (at last!).
Just a quick note to Phil Scolari, as I know you follow HO’s tips religiously – I’d rest Terry, Lampard and the Cole brothers on Saturday if I were you. They looked a bit tired!
Two weeks down, and six tips given. The score? Oliver 4 Bookies 2. I’m also £8 to the good for every pound invested on my tips, so the quest to terrorise the bookies is going just as easily as you can say Abu Dhabi United Group Investment and Development Ltd! Fulham v Bolton
A game between two of this season’s sure fire strugglers! Neither team are prone to attacking football, so goals may well be at a premium. In Jimmy Bullard though, Fulham do have the energy to force the game, so I can see a low scoring, narrow home win in this one.
Tip: Get on Fulham to win ‘to nil’ with Paddy Power @ 13/5.
Portsmouth v Boro
Boro have made an excellent start to their campaign thus far, whilst Pompey have only started to chime last week against a very slow starting Everton. That aside, Portsmouth were very difficult to beat at Fratton Park last term, and I can see that trend carrying into this season.
Tip: Back a Portsmouth win @ a very generous 11/10 with Skybet.
Wigan v Sunderland
The Pie Eaters season exploded into life at a dismal Hull last time out, and they will look to kick on from that with another win against a Sunderland side, shell shocked by our very own City. They have brought in a lot of players during the summer, and despite an impressive win at Spurs, they will need time to gel. It won`t happen on Saturday!
Tip: Wigan to win at HT and FT – 11/4 with Skybet
Longshot of the Weekend:
Newcastle are in complete disarray, but even so, Hull wont win at St James Park, will they? 5-1 may be tempting for them to sneak a win, and Blue Sq are teasing us with a whopping 22-1 for a 2-1 away success.
City Watch (v. Chelsea):
Despite the Revo-BLUE-tion, City are still as long as 7/2 for a home win on Saturday, with the country’s second richest team slightly odds on. Both teams may be hit with a plethora of injuries, with Petrov, Johnson, Essien, Drogba, Mikel amongst the potential casualties.
For the romantics amongst us, you can get 16s on SWP and 12s for Robinho to grab the first goal. Despite our boys scoring three in each of the last two games, this will be much tighter (can anyone remember the last time we scored against Chelski?).
Paddypower are offering 7/4 on their being less than 1.5 goals in the game. That seems decent value to me! Let’s hope the one goal involves Cech picking the ball out of the net!
