Many of us, especially on match-days have our own so-called superstitions. For example, we may only eat a certain breakfast, wear a lucky pair of socks, or avoid certain scenarios.

The reason is (as far as you and I are concerned), is that one possibility could be if you break any self-imposed taboo. The result could, more than likely end the day on a sour note.

Do you have any match-day superstitions?

When does a superstition become a jinx?

Before we continue we need to know what the word ‘jinx’ means?

Bad luck, or a person or thing that is believed to bring bad luck.

How Do Man City Break A So-Called Jinx?

Earlier today the official Premier League website published a piece about how difficult it is for clubs to retain their title.

The article goes into detail and explains that no defending champions have, over the last nine seasons ever managed to keep their mitts on the trophy.

How do MCFC avoid the dreaded jinx?

I am not going to be bold, or as brash to say Manchester City Football Club will win the 2018/19 season. But what I will say is – the club has more of a chance of doing something no other club has done in almost a decade, especially if we keep the current crop of players, and or, add a few newbies in the summer. In addition, no club has ever employed the likes of Pep Guardiola.

Hypothesis and conjecture

There are some who suggest City could dominate English football for several years to come. On the other hand, I for one disagree and don’t want to think about it. Put simply I don’t want to put a dreaded jinx on the club.
