How High City?

The question on every Blue’s lips this coming weekend is how high can City go in this extraordinary season as we open the next chapter of ‘Sven’s Book of Revelations..’

City now stand only 8 points behind our record Premier League points haul which was achieved back in the 2004/2005 Fatty Fowler penalty miss season with 12 games to go, having passed all other pisspoor totals.

That’s a measure of how far The Iceman has taken us after seven months in charge.

Going into the Everton Euro crunch game on monday night, confidence is clearly sky high post the united double achievement.

The team can step out knowing they have made history now and if they can maintain the level of performance sustained at the swamp, anything is possible with The Blue Army behind them, ready to raise the roof.

We’ve all had chance this past week to stop the clocks, take a step back and appreciate whether we are really here or not.

As the squad have taken a well earned break, the good news has kept on rolling in. Johnson, Castillo and Bojinov nearing first team action. Sturridge continuing to bang the goals in and Caceido demonstrating his power by also scoring his first goal in an MCFC shirt! The icing on the Eastlands cake is the brilliant Joe Hart earning recognition from the Italian England manager no less and rightly so. Indeed, our latest poll has also revealed that our MCFC Vital visitors foresee at least 3 of our young players representing their countries before too long. What a credit for the club.

Suddenly Svennis and Hans Backe have options all over the park as our mini season of 12 games begin.

Swimming safe amid this sea of knowledge, this correspondent sees no reason at all why we cannot make European competition.

Outside of the Everton six pointer, the revenge mission over Chelski and the trip to Liverpool, the other 9 games are against clubs outside the current top five. What an opportunity!

The biggest factor in our favour will be the steadily improving state of the playing surfaces as the spring approaches. This will suit and assist City’s playing style.

The second factor is revenge fuelled motivation. Everton away was a garbage performance and Chelski need no introduction. Both sides will encounter a very different Manchester City, I’m sure of it.

Everything is in place for the Euro charge. Time to go over the top Blues. Sing your hearts out for the lads and see you on the continent!

Johnny Baguette is heading for the hills and will be back on line after the Wigan PieTasters game.
