The Premier League reached round 11 (3-5 November 2018) last weekend and with all 20 clubs jockeying for position how many Manchester City players, bearing in mind they put six past Southampton made Garth Crooks and other notable broadcasters Team of the Week?
There were one or two noticeable results including struggling Newcastle claiming their first win (1-0) of the season, at home against Watford while on Bonfire Night (5 Nov) Huddersfield scrapped a similar scoreline at home against Fulham.
Manchester City 6-1 Southampton
A dynamic display from every City player however, and in my opinion there were two who shone brighter over everyone else.
Amazingly, BBC football analyst Garth Crooks added just one City player into his TOTW.
Garth on Raheem: “People who read my TOTW on a regular basis will know how good I think this lad can be. His performance against Southampton paid testimony to that.
“However, the thought of Raheem Sterling stalling on this contract extension offer with Manchester City is ill-conceived. I honestly think Sterling can be the next Cristiano Ronaldo but to become the best in the world you need the best teacher or to be amongst the best players.
“City already have the best teacher, and their players are developing fast. If Sterling knows what’s good for him, he should stay where he is. At least for the time being.”
ESPN football pundit Gab Marcotti differs in opinion albeit it was nice to see him pick Pep as his manager of the week.
This media outlet tends to agree with Marcotti.
How far off the mark were the pundits?
