Twelve months ago, Nedum Onuoha was linked with numerous moves away from City – £3-4 million would allegedly have taken him off our hands, with the likes of Villa, Everton, Birmingham all interested in taking the England U-21 international.

Vital Manchester City newbie, scrandled sent us the following…

I’ll be honest. I’ll admit it to the class now. I cannot lie. I wouldn’t have shed a tear if it had happened. There, I’ve said it.

‘Nervous’ Neddy had begun to frustrate me. Although the talent was obviously there for all to see, so were the plethora of injuries. A bit like Danny Sturridge, yet thankfully without the need to carry around his own self-proclaiming pedestal.

Whilst his defending was solid, his passing was reminiscent of schoolyard matches against the bigger, scarier kids where he just wanted someone – anyone – else to have the ball at their feet. Fans seemed to be getting as nervous as he appeared to be, including me.

However much like Stevie Ireland, last season seems to have been that season for Nedum. He might have only started about half the league matches, but while all the transfer speculation is now about the possibility of our current skipper heading to Sunderland or Spurs, and Micah touted in various swap deals in the gossip columns, Nedum has seemingly cemented his position in next year’s squad.

Injury free since Christmas, ‘Not-So-Nervous’ Neddy has been a rock at the back and has seemingly put his boots on the right feet for the last few months, his instep has now taken the place of the toe-bunger, and throwing a few goals in for good measure.

So I’ll hold my hands up. I was wrong. I apologise, Nedum. I’m glad you didn’t vanish down the M6 to spend last season with Gareth Barry, though could you please point Tal Ben Haim in the direction of that taxi I’ve booked for him?
