Ins & Outs Continue

With the World Cup rapidly heading for the Final and more and more players heading home or on holiday the gossip which has beset the Club throughout the summer so far is either coming to fruition or falling by the wayside.

The signings so far look to be a step up in class and I’m sure that Toure Yaya, Silva & Boateng will all make exceptional contributions to next season. Could Toure be the reincarnation of that marvellous No.23 Marc Vivien Foe? Many of us will remember with a great fondness that season that Foe played for City. His rampaging runs from box-to-box (in three steps it looked like) his goals from midfield, his defending from corners, his attacking from corners at the other end.

I for one have missed that type of player at City since 2003. Toure Yaya could be this man.

Boateng will add some extra dimension to the back line. England were supposed to tsrget him im the World Cup but the scoreline told the story.

Silva has always been quality. I recall seeing him play against Malaga for Eibar one year when he was very young and he looked a handful then.

Then I see a disturbing story. . . Tevez for Ibrahimovic? In Tevez we have an all-action hero who scores goals for fun. Ibra for me is a bit lazy, over-rated and probably not suited to the Premier League. I wouldn’t like to see the introduction of a Silva-Johnson axis simply to provide crosses for him to try to head in. I’m sure that Tevez wouldn’t want to go to Barcelona and return to the duties he despised at a stadium just outside Manchester. I’m sure I speak for us all in as much as that I want him to be part of what City is doing and there when that piece of silverware hits the trophy cabinet.

It’s good to see Given getting nervous about Joe Hart. Joe came on in leaps and bounds last season and as we know was unlucky not to have the opportunity of saving the shot that has cost Green his international future. I think we’ll see Joe get the shirt at some point this season.

I’ve said on a hundred occasions that I wouldn’t let Nedum leave us, nor Bellamy. Craig will definitely come back and haunt us (unless he ends up at Cardiff) but I for one would prefer him to stay at City.

I hope things work out well for Bojinov in Italy. The lad deserves a break that does not leave him out of action fo 12 months. We didn’t really get the chance to see what he can do, but it is traditional for us to wish our leavers well.

It’s all gaining some sort of momentum now. I just hope Messrs Mancini Kidd & Platt can get us playing as a unit from day one. Tevez says in one of today’s papers that Argentina did not play as a team in the World Cup and I think we all though that will Brazil being ushered to the exit Tevez & Co looked good enough to win it, but it does show if you don’t pull together it doesn’t alwats go right and I think there were a number of matches last season where we played like that. Indeed I would go as far as to say that that is the reason that Lampard & Gerrard don’t gel for England. Stevie G is a team player wheras as Frank plays for Frank. Why pass to someone unmarked on the 6-yard line when you can shoot into the crowd from 35 yards?

The Dzeko situation is still not resolved and could be shortly. How good would that be?

We have to watch out for who goes though. There are bound to be some favourites heading for first team football elsewhere. SWP & Ireland have been mentioned alongside Nedum & Richards. I don’t like to see our home-grown crown jewels heading for pastures new but they do need to grasp the nettle and show their true value at a time when it has become simpler for us to buy the finished article.

I’m sure we are watching with bated breath!
