Lee Probert has been appointed match referee, Man City v Hull, Saturday 28 November 2009.
Currently residing in my neck of the woods (Wiltshire), the 37-year-old has been a fulltime Premier League referee since July, 2007, albeit he does his fair share of officiating lower league matches.
His last game in charge, 21/11/09 (Boro v Nottingham Forest) saw him brandish four yellow and no red cards.
In The Mire
As fourth official in the Premier League game between Manchester United and Arsenal at Old Trafford on 29 August 2009, Probert, along with match referee Mike Dean, was criticised after Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was sent to the stands for kicking a water bottle. League Managers Association chief executive Richard Bevan said of the error of judgement?
‘Lee Probert totally failed to manage the situation and created a needless pressure point taking the focus away from the pitch in a big event with only a minute to go.’
